Navigation & Audio Clock error message after replacing OEM headunit
Clock error message after replacing OEM headunit
Hey All,
I have a 2011 MCS that I just replaced the stock headunit on with a double din pioneer. Sounds so much better with a 5 channel amp and 10" sub set up. However, I am now getting an error message on the tach that shows a clock with a bunch of zeros under it meaning the internal clock and date is not set (obviously since the oem radio was removed). It looked like on the older models (07-10) you could set the clock with the BC button, but it doesn't seem like I can do that anymore with the 2011. My question is if there is any way to remove this error message easily? I really didn't want to relocate the stock unit because there is just no room in this car without tearing our the dash.
Thanks!

Unfortunately by just removing the radio all together you have also removed a bunch of other computer parts that display information on the tach and radio screens. The radio head unit is not ONLY a radio it controls many other functions as well. You will need to put the Radio head unit back in the car. There are a number of ways of doing that. Just search thru the radio replacement threads here and you will find that it can go in at least tow different locations and be connected to the car thru extra purchase cables to be able to move it.

No...you don't have to put your head unit back in...LOL
The exclamation point will go away, all on it's own, after a predetermined number of starts, though I can't tell you how many. I installed an Alpine nav unit with the AC Control relocation, and use the old radio display spot to house the scan gauge screen. I had the same issue...but after a few months, the error message goes away on it's own.
Of course, if you disconnect the battery again, it will light back up until it cycles through again. Also, there are no other "modules" you'll be missing. Ridiculous. Your dealer will simply see the error code for the Head Unit Module (and amp module if you removed that) every time they read your codes. They see it all the time...no big deal.

It will be an issue if there's a problem and the dealer needs to update software on the car. They won't be able to because the car doesn't match the expected configuration and the programming will not proceed.
