Brake Pads for the track - GP with JCW brakes
Hey Everyone,
Thought I would get more looks on here than putting it in the GP page, but I am going to take my GP to the track and was wondering what people used for track pads. I found some older threads about this, but didn't see what people were using right now. I had used Carbotech XP8/XP10 on my S2000. Not sure if I need something as aggressive as that for the GP, but am open. The car currently has pretty much brand new OEM pads. Even if i dont change pads, would i melt through them in 3-4 20 minute sessions?

Carbotech XP12/XP10 or XP10/XP8, depending on badly you want to stop!
...or Hawk DTC60 would be a good alternative. You'll have a problem using the existing rotors with the OEM pad deposits on them. Best take some emery paper and scrub them down before bedding in the track pads. As for the OEM pads, it's not so much wearing them out as is the brake fade due to the excessive heat...Not a good feeling.

If you have done track days before and ran those Carbotechs on your other car I would say you are very likely to cook the stock pads pretty quick.
I'd say go with some Gloc GP10 fronts and you can use a d 6 or 8 compound on the rear. The MINI does it's work in the front and very little in the rear.
