GP pads worn-out at 36k

The brake pad sensor light went on at 36,400 miles in my GP. I investigated and found the left front inside pad was worn-out. I was a little surprised that it was already worn-out because I have not done any track days in this Mini. I had been monitoring the outside pads (looking through the wheel to inspect) and all four outside pads still look OK. On my 2003 MCS I wore-out it's original rear pads at a little over 40,000 miles but that was after two track days.

Have others been having similar pad wear rates on the GP?

I will be installing a TCE/Wilwood BBK from my previous MCS.

Really i feel like that you have done well with this amount of life from a set of pads i know that my tires and pads are pretty much equal in how long they last.
needless to say i go thru pads.
I had a nice talk with a M5 owner about his wife nagging him for the amount of tires , brakes and fuel he consumes. His simple repply i bought the car to enjoy why would i want to drive it easy.
So Just enjoy your Gp its rare and fun. I would love to have one

Thanks for the feedback. I agree. Brakes are cheap compared to the amount of enjoyment gained from the car. I was not so much concerned about the life of the brakes but more interested in seeing how long other GP brakes lasted to show my wife that I am not unusual (at least not in that way). The brakes on my daughters pickup just wore out at 40,000 miles so I cannot complain about the Mini brakes. It sure gave me a good excuse to install my BBK.

Oh it was my friends Pickup hes in the 90k bracket with orginal brakes.
its like a 2003 Chevy 2500 diesel.

Usually more power leads to the need for better brakes.
I found I needed a BBK on my modded 2003 MCS after my second track day. The stock brakes just could not take the heat. I guess I did not push very hard at my first track day. Anyway, I purchased a 13" TCE/Wilwood kit and installed it on the 2003 MCS. My next track day (Phil Wicks at Laguna Seca) was great. My brakes were cool, while other stock Mini brakes were badly smoking/fading. My instructor was impressed with the brakes.

In 2006, I totalled the 2003 MCS and removed the 13" brakes for eventual use on the GP. The stock GP brakes seem better than the stock 2003 MCS brakes but I have not driven the GP at a track day (mainly because of the stock brakes) so I cannot compare. I am glad I finally wore-out the stock GP brakes and get to install the 13" brakes and 4-piston calipers.

It would be nice to have the new JCW brakes but my old 13" TCE/Wilwood brakes were free from the old Mini and work very well.

Yea, my 2002 Suburban gets over 90,000 miles out of it's ceramic pads.
However, our 1997 Toyota pickup got 40,000 miles out of Performance Friction Pads. However, the Performance Friction pads stopped better so it was worth the wear.

For reference, I usually get 16-19K out of tires on the Minis.

I finally installed the TCE/Wilwood 13" BBK on the front of my GP.
Attached is a picture.
The 13" BBK is 4 lbs per wheel lighter than the stock JCW brakes.
I am using 15mm spacers and a TSW stud conversion kit.
