Hi guys looking to purchase my first mini. I found one locally that looked promising:

Ran a CarFax report on it and last July it had the following replaced at 102k miles:

timing chain
oil pan gasket
ignition coils
Valve cover gasket

should I be concerned or relieved that the work has already been performed? Also I don’t expect to drive this as much (less than 10k a year)...how long would the internals last before I have to consider replacing things like the auto transmission, turbo, etc? Thank you for the hospitality and advice in advance!

 

All those are good things you would have had to do about that time anyway. The turbo can be rebuilt if you have problems, as long as the rotating blades are good. Look for ANY oil leaks as there was no mention of the turbo oil lines or the oil cooler seals. As I mentioned on your other post, need input on the auto transmission life expectancy. Also the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) may be an upcoming maintenance item. Otherwise, these are a blast to drive.

 

Many thanks for your input! I was very surprised at the acceleration on these things when I test drove one earlier this week. I reached out to the shop that did all of the work on replacing the parts in hopes that they can let me know if there’s any kind of warranty left on the work.

 

I bought mine a month ago, after it had all that (and more!) replaced last January. I was happy to find that the work had already been done, since like others said it is due for it at 98k miles. The original owner loved the car but for most of his ownership he followed the oil change guidelines instead of doing it more frequently.

 

Why not hold out for a manual transmission? I'm not digging the all black interior. Guess dirt wont show much. I found a 10 Camden S edition with a manual for 6700. Love the interior.
