Getting harder to find OEM/JCW/GP accessories...
In case some of you guys haven't noticed yet, it is getting harder and harder to find OEM/JCW/GP accessories that were readily available to us back when our cars were first produced or when we bought them new. I've also noticed that if you are lucky enough to find these parts in "like new" condition, and are procrastinating about making the purchase, the prices have only been going up with each passing year.
I'm not talking about the stuff you can still get aftermarket or at the dealership, but parts you now have to really search for if you didn't get them back in the day...but want them now. Like Recaro seats, 18" JCW R105 wheels, or those JCW logo, checkered floor mats that not many of us opted for. Recently a NOS "front" set of these mats sold in the NAM classifieds for $200.00! That's twice their original cost. BTW those JCW R105 wheels still pop up on classifieds here and there but NOS ones will be in the $500-600 range...each. And that is without the center cap.
This isn't only true for our JCW's but also for the earlier JCW/GP's too. Just try and find a near new set of 18" GP wheels that were originally fitted to the 06's and I'll bet you will be in sticker shock. But....if you really need them....you're gonna have to pay up. My 06 had some accessory MINI gauges mounted on the steering column and in the center console which are also no longer available. The more you think about it, the longer the list gets. What JCW parts have you been hunting for lately that seem to be very difficult to find?
