Dimensions of the rear opening?

Hi all! Been lurking for a few days as I begin the planning process of perhaps replacing an older SUV in the family. I'd love to go wagon if possible simply because most of the time we're not using all the extra space and a more fuel efficient, better looking and better driving car is an intriguing proposition. We do have a specific size carboard box (folded flat) that we transport from time to time and I would love to see if a bundle of those would fit in the back of a Clubman with the seats folded down.

I've tried looking for the size in inches of the back barn door opening and the max width of an item that will fit into the Clubman on the MINI website but have not had any luck. Do any of you owners know the answer to this question? I appreciate any and all help!

I don't have one at home right now so I'm not sure. I think I will have a chance to measure one on Sunday so hopefully I will know this weekend. I'm sure length will be fine with the rear seats folded but width might be an issue. You would think this is the kind of information that MINI would make readily available but worst case I can just call or email a dealer next week and see if I can find a helpful sales person.

just measured. if you open the doors and measure weather-stripping to weather-stripping its 42.5 inches. then there's the carpeted side panel that begins. if you have something flat, the max width it could be at that point is 39.5 inches across. finally a little deeper there's a clip that protrudes a bit on each side. lets say the box is around 12 inches high, it would need to be no more than 37.5 inches to get it in. hope this helps.

Just measured too and I agree. A 39” wide flattened cardboard box should fit fine. Taller stuff starts to hit hooks and latches and stuff.

The doors open much wider than the actual cargo space, so they won’t limit you at all.

I can take pictures if you want more info.

I had an opportunity to visit our storage room today and our boxes are 40.9 inches long by 37.2 inches wide and each bundle of boxes is about 4 inches high. Sounds like I could get several bundles in the back of the Clubman, no problem! I have reached out to our local MINI dealer who is about 30 minutes away and hope to be able to see and drive a Clubman in person somewhat soon. Thanks again for all the help and I may call on you again once I get a little farther along in the process.
