R56 MAX A/C button - should the fan run at full speed?
MAX A/C button - should the fan run at full speed?
Hi all,
I've noticed that when using the 'MAX' A/C button on the climate control (2013 cooper S hardtop) it turns the A/C on, turns the temperature to 'LO', and sets the fan to one notch below full.
Is that normal behavior, or should it set the fan to maximum? I can hit the + button and it'll run at full speed, but if I turn off MAX then turn it back on again, it's at one notch below full. Doesn't seem to make any difference what speed my fan is set on in non-max mode.
I've just replaced the final stage resistor but it made no difference, so I'm now wondering if this is normal operation...
thanks for any advice!

I've since found in the TIS that the blower motor should run at full speed when 'MAX' is pressed, so there's some kind of fault somewhere.
I've got a fault code for rear window defrost circuit open, and confirmed that today when I found the solder tab broken off the glass. Is there any chance that could affect the fan speed? bit of a long shot I know...
