2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible Question

I can't seem to find this listed anywhere on the net. What does it do? It is on the console beside the radio, has one screw on it.

That's the mount for the factory added cup holder.

If you want to take off that piece. Know that it is held on by the single screw and some strong double sided tape.

Yep, people knock them off. have to get the whole part, you have the anthracite version. I use mine in my R52 and then got the leather GP down tubes so i took it out so it does not mess the leather, all other MINIs have the plastic down tubes so its fine.

If you want, I've got the cup holder assy gathering dust in the garage and you'd be welcome to it.
