If you think you have the problem fixed and you want to clear the ECU you can disconnect the negative terminal on battery for 15 minutes and that should do it. I finally figured the trick to get my scanguage to clear codes. I think you can get a obd2 Bluetooth and use torque pro or if you want a hand held tool then https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben...020sch01a~scf/

Another vote here for the Foxwell Schwaben. Great little code reader. I wouldn't exactly call it cheap but it's cheaper than taking it to a dealership and having it plugged up
Thank you. That looks like a nifty little machine. Does it have more functions than the Foxwell nt510, cos I can get one of those for around the same price here in the UK?

I did a little digging and it appears that they are the same scanner except for color. Foxwell manufactures them, then Schwaben and ECS buy them, load the BMW/Mini software onto them, and them sell them on their site. So really the only difference (at least from what I can tell) between buying one from ECS and Buying one from Foxwell is that the Schwaben already has the BMW/Mini software to read all the BMW/Mini specific codes, run diagnostics, and things of that nature preinstalled, in addition to reading all the generic P-Codes on any OBDII equipped vehicle. If you buy one from Foxwell, it will still function just like every other code reader and read your generic P-Codes but you'll have to purchase the BMW/Mini software if you want to have the functionality I described out of the box you'll get from the Schwaben. You can also run software for (I believe) up to 5 auto makes on either scanner so if you own other vehicles than BMW's or Mini's (For instance I've got Toyotas) you can have the same functionality (to a degree depending on manufacturer) and aren't restricted to just reading the generic P Codes.
