Help me buy an OBD2 scanner

My R52 is going into limp mode and need to see what my CEL code is. Looking for an OBD2 scanner that can view/clear codes on my 2008 R52 S and also work on any other vehicle.

What should I buy? Hoping to keep it under $50.

I have this one.
Amazon Amazon

I've used it on probably 6-10 different cars (friends and family) and it's always read codes and cleared them. It also works with dash command and other apps to displace real time data on the car.

Bought a cheap $20 Hyertough OBD2 reader at Wally World and it worked. P1688. I was able to clear it.

I'm guessing I need a new crank pulley. Seemed to be doing it with the A/C on and romping on the engine. I thought they updated the pulley in 2006 or something? Should I be replacing this at 68K on my 2008?

I'm on a budget. Looking at the liquid filled one. Mod MINI recommends the PRW one for $222. Should I get this one?

It should be the first thing you replace on these cars. Here's mine at 50K:

I got an ATI only because the PRW was on back order at the time (last October) and I needed to drive the car asap. I figure if ModMINI likes SFI/PRW, they're probably just fine.

Yeah... thankfully she's a 3rd car, so I'm going to take my time. Might be time to install a 15% pulley as well!

Do you know if that scanner / free app can be used to clear SRS/airbag codes too? I removed a seat without remembering to disconnect the battery and need to clear the resulting code.
