06 Mini Cooper R50 AC Not Blowing Cold
I have read so many posts on this and I cannot seem to figure this out on my sons 2006 Mini Cooper. I noticed the AC was not blowing cold, after reading posts her I check the radiator/ condensor fan and noticed it does not turn on when you turn on the ac (with recirculation on also). I ordered a new fan unit complete with resistor and installed (that was fun) and still nothing. I did notice the fan will come on when the vehicle reaches the operating temp when it is required but not with AC. I then checked all of the fuses and relays under the hood and replaced the 2 fan relays in hopes to correct and still nothing. I saw where this maybe tied to the PS fan and to verify that fuse was not blown (cabin fuse box) and it is not. Very hard to tell if that fan is actually on without jacking up the vehicle.I had it checked and the freon is full per the shop and when you turn on the AC the compressor engages and the blower inside the vehicle is operating normally. Help.......What am I missing here?
As an update here, today I replaced the power steering fan as I read it is tied to the high speed fan process. I verified all fuses both under the hood and in the cabin are in deed good, nothing blown. Also went ahead and changed the ambient air sensor but I am sure that has nothing to do with the issue. I am drawing a blank on this issue at this point and could definitely use a little guidance on what I am missing here.
It could be the compressor clutch. Have you verified that the clutch engages when you turn on the AC? There are a few posts on here regarding the compressor relay and which connection you can check ground on. When my clutch went out, my ohmmeter read an open circuit where as you should see something like 3-5 ohms (trying to remember the reading). If it is the clutch, you can order just a clutch kit and replace it without needing to evacuate and recharge the whole system. One tool that'll make this job easier (once again, assuming it is the clutch), is a stout impact driver. It'll zip that bolt out of the hub and you'll be able to change that clutch in no time.

The low speed cooling fan comes on as a result the AC coming on,not the other way around. I would check the clutch to see why it's not engaging, fuse, relay, wires, maybe a bad clutch?
