So I want coilovers buuuuuut.....

So I been wanting an ebay set of adjustable coilovers and dampener but heres my issue.. I'm running a 15x8et25 with 5mm spacers and rims on 205/55r15 tires.im issue is im.scared of them rubbing and hitting my fenders . The other issue is the coils only allow for a minimum of a 1inch drop too so that could be a problem. When I ran 15x8et20 rims and 205/60r15 tires with a passenger in the car it would rub the fenders and sometimes pop off the fender trim.
do you think on my current setup i could safely run coilovers? I'm not looking to slam it just lower it literally an inch or 1.5inch and mainly be able to have stiffer suspension then.

The front splitter looks pretty low as the car sits now. Will there be clearance issues if you lower the car another 1-1.5"? Also, did the fender trim pop off the front, rear, or both?

Some added camber might help with the trim popping as long as it isn't too crazy for tire wear or handling, and doesn't cause rubbing someplace new. Also, when selecting 1st gen MINI wheels with a lower ET on Tire Rack they have this warning, "MAY REQUIRE MODIFICATION TO THE REAR PLASTIC FENDER LINER." Not sure if the modified area is only for rubbing, or if it also helps with the problem of the wheel arches popping off.

It seems like it would be pretty close with that offset and spacers, especially if you run appropriate rear camber so that it doesn’t understeer so bad. You’re installing adjustable lower arms, right?

The way i look at it is, put them on and let it rub for a day, (if it rubs) then start dremeling , all the plastic i cut from my wheel arch’s the tires made it’s own grooves on afterwards

It seems like it would be a 50/50 shot if they would work or not..I guess If i decide to get them i would have to have it arranged that if they didn't fit, i could be able to send them back..one ebay seller already said it would be ok so i might end up getting them just to test fit and if they do,awesome..
I will wait for summer to do it, this spring has been icky plus I been doing visual mods and body/chassis stiffening mods.

The plastic will self-clearance, but you'll have less issues with rubbing in general with quality dampers and proper spring rates.

Previous owner put rev9s on my r53. He told me they were Tein. I didn’t think about double checking them. They are green. Lol

They ride great and can adjust between a nice ride and stiff as hell. I do have a knock in the back suspension. I kinda think it’s something to do with the rear strut mount. But could be a blown shock I guess.

Are they easy to adjust and set ?
can they go high enough to reach stock or about stock ride height ?

The fronts you just click right or left on the **** to adjust. Camber plates on the front seem easy enough to adjust but haven’t had an alignment done yet. Waiting on new tires to do that down the road.

not sure about adjustment in the rear or height lowering minimum or maximum.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think these also eliminate the stock front strut mount setup

Never ran those. I would click out all the way soft on the back and then dial up. The rears if adjustable on the dampening control the most for ride comfort and daily. My ohilins on my R58 JCW are clicked out almost all the way. Then if you want to track and get all road rally crazy. Count the clicks and tighten up the rear. Then dial a couple in the front up .
