I recently installed a set of Helix projector headlights into my 2007 Mini Cooper S and revieve the malfunction or "bulb out" light. I think thats what it is atleast. Can anyone help me figure why this is? Indicator lamp error that appears after install. Helix R56 headlights
I had the same headlights and the same problem. I had to turn off the high beam voltage check using Carly to make it go away. I think turning off the DRLs via the dash menu also worked.
Yeah, I needed the full version of Carly along with a compatible OBD2 adapter. I turned off the high beam voltage check.
There may be other ways to do it, but that worked for me. Perhaps you can find somebody locally with Carly, or a mechanic may have the system to code that out for you.
Did you try just turning off the DRLs in the dash menu? I think that also worked but I didn't play around with it much as I had the Carly anyway.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I will ask my local shop. In the meantime, I would like to disengage the drls? Am I close in the menu here? Which one is the drl?
The first pic is the DRL setting. Looks like yours are off already.
Easy to tell. Start the car and leave the headlight switch off. Are the headlights off? Then your DRLs are off.
Okay, that's what I was thinking. I always have mine set to Auto. Where if the lighting is dim, then they come on.. so at this point I will contact my local auto repair and see 9f they are capable of doing this. Can they do this, do you know, with like a standard scan tool? Snap on ect.
