Oil Leak Cause?

My 2011 JCW is leaking oil from under the front passenger side. Pretty much right under the dipstick (maybe a little behind it). Oil level doesn't seem to be dropping at all, and it's not a huge leak (couple of drops per night). Any ideas on the source?

Built in feature of most BMW products to let you know you still have oil in the engine. Nothing to worry about, unless it stops...

Pretty much right under the dipstick (maybe a little behind it).
First guess: the dipstick O-ring.

If you have the time, tools, and patience, pull the wheel and fender liner off to check the engine front end. Lotsa seals and hardware to leak from located there. Otherwise take it to a Mini indi shop with a lift. Maybe they can find it for you.

Prime offenders on that end that I know of: crank seal, oil pan, tensioner, valve cover. I agree with oldbrokenwind....inspect. I'd start at the top with the tensioner and valve cover because they can leak and it can look like the crank seal and/or oil pan if you look at it from the bottom. It's probably not the valve cover....the tensioner is more common and not too hard to check.

I noticed that I have the same issue. It is not the valve cover. I looked around the oil pan and did tighten the screws a little bit. I will have to check the tensioner next.

Mine turned out to be the oil filter mount and gasket. Got that fixed and the leak is gone. It's tricky to get to, but you might want to check that out.

OP mentioned passenger side - if someone is taking bets, I'm in for the crank seal behind the crank pulley.
