So very odd random thing is occurring on my cooper s.
so when I’m in sport mode and I put down a window I get This odd rattle type noise when the exhaust burbles/backfires. Coming from the trunk and its definitely coming from inside the car. But with the windows up the noise is totally gone. I cannot Make sense of it and and tried and looked for a cause.
anyone experience anything similar or have suggestions?
Only Sport Mode? I wonder if it is related to the Active sound design module (ASD), which makes the fake engine sounds. Maybe it's loose and vibrating. Realoem.com for location.
But that wouldn’t explain the rattle noise going way with the window closed. I have A Remus catback so the backfiring is louder than stock. Even if my window is slightly cracked the noise happens. That’s the most confusing part
I have the remus exhaust on my F54, but I didn't install the electronic actuator. After a while, the valve became loose and was flapping around. Went to a muffler shop and ended up removing that section and adding in a new section of pipe.
In this photo which is the valve rotated 90 degrees, the bottom would be on the left side. You can see that there is some kind of piece that had broken off and it was just rattling around.
