General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
BimmerLink is like a crystal ball for the Mini. Or in my case it’s like that movie “The Ring” where you find out how your daily driver is going to kill you in
7 days.
This weeks options are:
1. Run out of Gas
2. Get a flat tire
3. Stereo stops working
4. Can’t open the door to my mini
5. Sunroof gets stuck open
6. Footwell Module dies on a dark road and I can’t see anything.

Welcome to the MINI ownership experience! Sounds like you need a BCM and likely have water getting in to the car which fried it. However, it may just be some bad wiring due to the aforementioned water intrusion either at the BCM itself, or at a plug that I believe is under the carpet under the passenger's seat. If you go to remove the seat, remember to disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes before proceeding. If you don't, it will set an airbag code when it is disconnected and need to be reset by the dealer.
If you can, go get that Honda and keep the MINI as a fun project. The Honda is a better car for the everyday.

so I saw the footwell module is covered under warranty for like 125K miles.
does it have to fail or if I take her to the dealership for an oil change and she throws up these codes will they replace?

It sounds like it has already failed to me. I would ask the dealer and see what they have to say. So far as I know, BMW hasn't found a way to monetize answering questions...yet.
BTW, I still love my MINI too, even though the transmission needs to come back out for the third time in 8 months, I still find myself wanting to drive it.( I am also happy I own a Toyota for the everyday because I would never be sure I could get where I needed to go if I had to rely on a MINI!)
