I can't answer your question, but do you really have 100k miles on a 2020?

Low beam might be going on/off, if you have halogen bulbs, my guess ifs the element is on/off.

LED bulbs may affect the bulb check & cause this light.

stock bulbs, gonna check the connections and see if one is loose. 100K, maybe the computer is smart and knows when one is about to go out?

The checks are performed by measuring resistance in the circuit to the bulb. If the resistance is out of the specified range, it determines there is a fault and lets you know. Smart system actually. That is why LED's cause errors as they present a different resistance value. It is also why replacing halogens with LED cause the flickering lights on startup. The resistance check is performed by passing a brief voltage to the circuit to measure resistance. A halogen bulb would not illuminate since it is such a brief pulse but the LED requires next to no time to illuminate so they do.

In any case, the car should be able to tell you exactly which bulb it is detecting an issue with in check control.

when I go into check control it just says check ok, can’t see the error code.

came across this the other day, basically says that the computer has to be reprogrammed to remove the fault. Guess I just have to pay attention to my headlamps to ensure they are working.

No luck

Local BMW mechanic says he can’t find anything wrong with any of my lights and says it might be that the footwell module is going bad.

best he could say is to do a period safety check to make sure my headlamps work.

bummer

Odd things can happen if your battery is low or going bad. Computers don't like low voltage.

Just a thought. I know in the US the rear fog light require a switch and coding. That said, there is still a bulb for the rear fog light (must be cheaper to manufacturer by just adding it). I would check that rear fog bulb to see if it is bad.
