Can I still buy the JCW tuning Kit for N18 R59 S?

Can I still buy the JCW tuning Kit for N18 R59 S?

Hello,

I always wanted a roadster and now I am ready to buy one. Factory JCW's are hard to find (esp with low miles)

If I find a nice R59 MCS, can I still get the JCW tune kit (manifold, inbox, exhaust, tune etc). Is this a dealer only item or 3rd party availability (I have looked and don't see the N18 R56-R59 kits anyplace).

Also, I know I can make more HP for less with other 3rd party bits, but I am looking for Factory JCW stuff in this case

Any thoughts ?

--also, would love to get a referal to a for sale factory JCW r59.

Thanks,

-mark (aka fossilfuel)

I thought you could only get the JCW tuning kit for the early R53/R56 models when there was no factory JCW.

You could buy the JCW parts ie turbo, exhaust, body kit etc... and get a remap to JCW power.

Is this what you are referring to

I'd say keep an eye out for a real JCW R59. In the last year I've had 3 customers get JCW R59s and they were all good deals with low mileage so they are out there. And this is the time to buy a cabrio as the values are down in winter months.

The factory Gen 2 JCW option had some differences in internal parts. Those were never part of any kit. The only ways to get a real factory JCW would be to buy a car so equipped or have an extended visit with the parts guy at your local MINI dealership. The factory JCW upgrades were never part of a kit...

Thanks guys. I looked and looked for a full factory R59 JCW. The few out there where either higher mileage than I wanted, WAY over my budget or N14 (I prefer N18).

SO.....I got a nice deal on a clean, well optioned R59 MCS see pics. Mods have already begun :-)

My local dealer, Mini of Austin was able to order the JCW tune kit that KNT referred to. http://minifans.info/parts-catalog/R...jcw_tuning_kit Basically it is exhaust, exhaust manifold, airbox and ecu map (and some badges and a numbered plaque for the cam cover). It is indeed for my year/model.

I am also doing the JCW Brembo brake kit all the way around.

I know there is more power available for less $, but I am going for as much OEM as I can and doing my own JCW "tribute" :-)

//////////

That said, can I add a Burger JB+ on top of this JCW tune kit? or do they do the same thing --the JCW kit has ECU map, so I don't know if they will play nice together or not?

Thanks! -mark (aka fossilfuel)

They work on top of each other, so you can use it with the kit cars. When i was looking for an R58 JCW I cam upon a couple R59 JCWs, they are rare but if you search for a while you will find them,

Thanks ECS. I bought the R59S and will just mod it :-) in fact i already did an order with you !

Seems no one has anything bad i have seen about the JB+ so I think i will add that on top of the JCW tune kit !! That'll get me to OEM JCW R59 power and maybe a bit more!

I already love this car!
