Gear engaging

When one changes the clutch and feels like the gears are engaged differently is this a matter of setting? I mean, after the clutch change, the pedal's traveling has increased until the gear can engage. Before it seemed more instant... can this be tweaked in order to make it as it was before?

Could be air in the slave cylinder/system but it's not unusual for the clutch to "feel" differently, especially if you've gone with an aftermarket unit. Your other clutch was worn out and mostly likely wasn't operating properly. ModMini on YouTube has a video with details on how to bleed the system if you want to go that route.

I haven't used a diff brand part, its a bmw part the one ive installed. One of my thoughts was that maybe im used to the sensation of the worn out part (i was using it for 130.000km) and now that ive installed a brand new one... well it just feels different.
Has anyone changed his clutch and flywheel and has had a similar issue like mine?

Yep, just changed mine from stock dual-mass to a single-mass Valeo kit. Operates very differently, not to mention better.

Two ways primarily -- 1) gear engagement is much more positive; 2) pedal effort is much easier, so much so that I thought something was wrong the first time I drove it. I posted as such on the Forum and received confirmation from multiple sources that this was the normal operation of a Valeo clutch. So, bottom line, better in all ways.

The bmw part ive installed also does require a definitely easier pedal effort, i believe because its new... about the gear engagement positiveness u say i dont understand. Can u clarify what u mean as positiveness?

Sure. I mean when shifting, the gear stick notches into each gear with authority. Feels extremely solid.

What about the pedal traveling up to the point that the gear engages... is that the same as it was before? Did u notice any difference in that?

Yes, you should notice a different pedal engagement point. Before the clutch change, my pedal was engaging very near the floorboard. Engagement occurs higher now with the new clutch.

Exactly!! Thats the case with mine too, and to be frank i cannot get used to it. I get the feeling that the car isn't acting as agile as it was before.

How about an adjustable stop to bring the engagement point where you want it?

Wow this seems interesting... where is it mounted? Is there some video that shows how it can be installed?
