Failed on the Freeway - Not engaging into gear
Hello and thank you for reading this!
I was driving my Mini Cooper on the freeway today when all the sudden (no unexpected noises), it slipped out of gear, and didn't go back.
I pulled over, turned the car off, back on, and wouldn't engage into gear. It was as if the car was in neutral. Had to get it towed from there.
Any ideas?? Thank you!

Failed CVT tranny....they use a belt and two pullues internally...no "gears".
about a 6500$ fix...dealer is only real option...many have tried to rebuild thses, but even pro shops have nightmare issues and WEEKS trying to get it to work....
Sorry to tell you the bad news, good luck.

Sorry to hear about the problem. There is a lot of threads here discussing the CVT failure problem. Search the threads for a swap to a "real" automatic. I think Way Motors has experience doing this swap and maybe can help.
