Steel rims for winter
Steel rims for winter
Knowing that the MINI One is the only MINI available with steel rims and hubcaps, does anyone know if there is some way to obtain the rims and hubcaps in the U.S. It would be easy enough to buy another set of alloys off Ebay, but I would worry about messing those up too with all the salt on the roads of Cleveland.
Steel rims, winter tires, and hubcaps are the only way to go in the area of the U.S. Any advice or references you might have would be great. Someone out there has to own these rims already.
I haven't checked with Classic MINI yet, but plan to when I have my door speaker replaced next week.
Regards.

You can definitely get them....i've used the mini ones for two years straight. Didnt bother with hubcaps though
You can call classic, im sure they can help. I went to a buddy of mine who works at a BMW dealer, he got an awesome deal for me....no mark up at all

Yes, Tire Rack have both 15" and 16" steel wheels (and wheel/tire combo packages) available. The 16" wheels are $50 each and have an offset of ET45 and weigh around 22 lbs each......just in case anyone's interested
if ur going with 15's make sure you get the factory ones, they do have proper brake clearance... not enough of it but enough to make driving fine
civic ones will always rub like crazy... i had first hand experience
and i didnt bother with hub caps either... 31 bucks cdn?? i can get 16 buck better looking ones at the local autoparts store!

I called classic last week. They can order the Mini Steel Wheels for you. They can also get you the wheel covers. Their prices were good.
I decided to go with some steelies and Pirelli Snowcontrol tires from Alex at Tire Rack. I put these on last Saturday. They seem to work great, no rubbing, etc.
No snow yet, so I'll have to wait to see how the tires perform in the snow
