Trunk won't open, roof won't go up

The above symbol shows up when I attempt to CLOSE the roof. The Green LED (next to roof up/down control switch) flashes when I attempt to unlock the trunk (either by Keyfob or by Rear Latch Button). Using either method to attempt to unlock the trunk... there is no motor-zip-zip sound from the trunk (bonnet... sorry) latch mechanism... just that green LED flashing up at the roof up/down toggle control switch.

I believe the trunk and the roof issues are related... but am quite stumped as to what is going on.

I know about the package shelf switch... I fixed that a long time ago.

One other piece of debug... when peeking through the folded down back seat... I can see the trunk's interior light extinguish when I close the trunk. So at least ONE circuit understands the trunk is closed (which is a pre-requisite for operating the roof).

Also... you can hear the hydraulic motors working to try and raise the lowered & locked roof when you attempt to raise (close) it.

Your help is MUCH appreciated.

Like Aria Snow says... "Winter has come for house Doug." and it is time to put the roof up... brrrr....

There is a rectangular slotted plastic cover at arrow 1, push it towards the front of the car, sliding it into an open position, it is not always easy to do but will move. Under that is the two allen key bolts that require loosening. You can now lift the top manually. It is also recommended that you access the hydraulic pump and turn the gold screw one and a half turns, but this is not always accessible (because your roof is stuck open). It is possible to get the boot panel off to access it but you need both rear seat backrests down and stand on your head... Part two, once the roof is sitting on the a pillar rests is to remove the middle panel to access the sunroof motor and use an allen key to turn the motor until it is closed and latched. Good luck

+1 Manually lift it and then get the Schwaben tool which is on sale to troubleshoot the fault codes.

Its in the link. I have used it on my R52 and R58/
