What it would happen if continuance driving with p0340
Head gasket was changed and new rings and light boring on the walls.
I did a thread few months ago with my r52 2006 convertible.
my car got overheated last year and it messed up the head gasket. I was not driving it somebody else.
here my questions
when I cranked the car sometimes it triggers the maintenance light but not the engine check light!(eml) then I get the p340 and sometimes p0341 but mustly p0340
i know that’s the camshaft sensors and btw I check the cables for that new sensor without not problems, both sensors were replaced and I still have the old ones.
now going back few months ago when the car got overheated before I even touch the engine to do the overhaul I read the codes and it was p0340 and p0341 after the engine overheated, previously the engine was okay and running fine without giving any codes at all.
so I bought the kit to do the timing belt and I used the marks on the chain one dot at 12 and the other 2 dots on the chain as 5 o’clock.
i didn’t move or change anything assuming that the cylinder were on tdc.
i removed the head and send it to the shop, valves were okay but he said that it overheated pretty good so we machined the head and removed lot of material.
so how I get rid of that annoying error code?
the car runs fine the issue is only when starting.
the error code was before I did the major overhaul!
do you guys think that the chain jumped when the car got overheated ?
I m resetting the error codes, but what happens if I continue driving it ? Can I messed up the engine?
