Back in February, I purchased a 09 JCW Coupe from a car lot at a decent price. It had 95,000 miles, and a new clutch and tires. I always wanted a Mini, so I went for it. I know it was a bit risky, but so far all is well. It did have a good service history from the first owner. I had the dealer check the timing chain, that upgrade had been done. So far all I needed was an O2 sensor.
I know they use oil when you rev them up a lot. The AC blows cold, and I bought a set of plugs for it, the old ones looked good, so its running clean.
If other owners would like to share I would appreciate it. Anyone have one with high mileage? My gut feeling is that if an owner does not flog the motor before it warms up, uses good oil and pays attention, these cars might hold together fairly well. These are really strong running cars.

I see you have another thread on the N14 and got some good advise in that. NE or SE of the state? You have some great MINI roads over that way.

 

Welcome! Be sure to check out the FAQ's. You're approaching mileage where you might need a new HPFP and cleaning of the intake valves. The N14 doesn't have the reliability of the Gen 1 engine, but its a decent engine if you take care of it.

 

yeah you need to do a sh*t load of maintenance work. hope you paid cash for that car.

change plugs NGK every 30k
change the ignition coil
change the oil feed line to the turbo
change all the air, cabin oil filters
change the turbo down pipe
change the tranny oil
change the alternator belt

wouldn't do a walnut blast unless it needed.

only run Chevron Supreme or top tier premium gas

TIME OUT THE ENGINE AT LEAST 5 MIN BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. don't treat it like a vacuum cleaner.

change the brake fluid
change the radiator fluid

sure you wanted a 100k JCW?

oh and don't listen to that gen 1 talking smack bullsh*t about the gen 2. most people don't know how to drive and treat a turbo. v supercharger.

hot exhaust system needs to be timed out. ALWAYS KEEP OIL TOPPED OFF IN CRANK! KEEP REVS RPMS UP 3k+ - 4K

timing chain is the only real N14 issue. just replace it with new guides.

and water pump sucks too needs replacing. fuel pump too. also sucks.

I'd dump my JCW but I love it to much. It's a masochistic car.

 

I've got a few 200k mile R56 customers and can tell you the thing they have in common is routine maint.
Change oil every 5k, run premium fuel, drive it, plugs every 30k.

at 95k I'd be looking at doing a fuel filter next
