OBD II Gauges -- Yay or nay?
OBD II Gauges -- Yay or nay?
Any opinions on using OBD II gauges (e.g. ScanGauge 2, P3 Multi-Gauge) full time... in other words, leaving them plugged in? I've heard conflicting notions about battery drain, burnout, lag in other "electrics" due to the gauge's interference, etc.
What say ye? (Pardon the olde English but... well, this is a Mini forum.)
Thanks, guys.

With my vert, it is a real PIA to see the wheel mounted speedo LED when the top is down. I have a cheap OBD HUD unit that I use. Yes being cheap the calibration between low speed and high speed is off but at least I know from experience how fast I am going without having to look at the big unit in the middle of the dash.
I have my Scangauge II plugged in my '06MCS.
I drive it every weekday and it doesn't appear to have any noticeable drain on the battery. When my car is off, my battery never gets below 12.4 volts.
It doesn't have any impact on any of the electronics.
I have the Scangauge in my pillar cupholder and my windows are tinted. The unit is always shaded from the sun.
