I have a 2017 MC - S convertible, F57 and am at the beginning teaching myself to be reasonably competent maintaining my car and making light repairs. I recently assisted a tech installing coilovers and NM rear sway bar and thought, now that I've seen it done, I could've done that. Just ordered a Schwaben Pro Scan Tool from ECST and am anxious to learn how to use it.

I believe I'm accurate in stating Bentley does not yet make a service manual for 3rd gen Minis. My question is this - would their manual for the 2nd gen cars (R55, R56, R57) be helpful enough to me to justify the $90+ cost. I know F series engines / frames are different from 2nd gen R series vehicles. But are enough other systems more or less alike?

Bentley manual from 2nd generation won't be of much help other than sitting on it if you want to raise your seat height.
