Open up the hood, then look at the bottom of the scoop. There are four locations where your scoop may be bolted to the hood. Usually from the factory only two are used (so I've noticed anyway).

Be careful not to drop any of the hardware down into the engine compartment. It may not drop out to the floor.

I believe the scoop has some captive nuts holding it on. Open the bonnet and check it out.

Dave, it sounds like maybe a couple of your nuts vibrated loose....it has happened before. I lost one, and found I had to give the other nuts an extra twist.

There are 2 8mm nuts and 2 phillips screws that hold the intercooler director (?) piece on. Remove that, then there are 2 more 8mm nuts that hold the actual scoop piece on. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts on reassembly.

All I needed was a phillips screwdriver and a pair or needle nose pliars. Easy to remove. Just look at where's there's either a screw or a bolt, and loosen it. Took mine off, and painted my outer scoop inlet piece black. Matches my fender flares and lower front valence. Cheaper than putting in a carbon fibre bit. Not the same look , but oh well.
Cheers,

Crap!!!

Just my luck! After posting above about having to tighten the nuts (which I did 4-5 months ago).............Whammmm! It's gone. My scoop decided to part ways with the bonnet at nearly 120 mph! Boy did that sucker soar! At least fifty feet of altitude...thankfuly it missed the windshield. Never to be found.

I guess I tweaked my nuts a little too tight.

Anyone have an extra?

Sounds like a good time to get a carbon fibre one!

Out with the old.....

In with the new.....

I haven't had time to download more pictures for my camera yet. Been so busy driving it I've neglected everything else. 1300 miles in 4 days. That was the first day we picked it up and it was rainy all day, and most of the weekend.

Ok I'm removing my scoop and need some help, I've gotten the four 8mm nuts off holding it in, but now there appears to be some plastic clips holding it in, and I cant get to them easily or see them well enough to try anything without fear of breaking them. If you look at the picture below you see the the two holes, the plastic clip thing is behind the piece between the two holes(X marks the spot), just far enough that I can't get good pressure to try and release them with my fingers. I'm not even sure which way to apply pressure. Looks like I should be pressing towards the center of the car but not sure. Anyone know how to get these things loose?

Wow... I can't imagine losing the scoop at high speed like that. Sounds like a good place for some Locktite.

As AGRO mentioned when reinstalling DON'T overtighten. Little more than hand tight plus a dab of nail polish on the threads afterwards will suffice. Loctite might be a mistake, the studs are pretty weak.
Two of mine vibrated off before my 1st dealer inspection. And yes I broke off one of the studs (learning the easy way) Lots of JB Weld made it better than new.
