anyone rent a MINI in the USA?

I am thinking i want to take a road trip for some "alone" time and travel up to the New England area for some leaf peeping and would really like to drive a MINI up there ---

the problem is that i don't own one (yet)... and i see in all the MINI mags that in Europe you can rent MINIs --

anyone know if you can do that in the US?

thanks

Well, sure... in some places. Last week I saw a DS/DS MCS for rent. That was is Beverly Hills, CA, just off of Rodeo Drive. The MINI was sharing the lot with Porshes, Jaguars, Lamborginis and other such exotic cars! So, not exactly the cars you would find at Avis or Enterprise...

Godspeed.

I have seen them for rent in Las Vegas NV, and there too they were right beside some pretty exotic stuff... Ferrari, Dodge Vipers, etc.

I did a quick search for something east coast and found this place you might want to check out for a MINI rental..

Good luck, and have fun!

I just went on their web site and found two in the Boston area-"find cars"-"Boston" $70 /day, pretty steep, and you have to join zip car to do it.Peace

Check out some of the local dealerships. I know that the dealer in Scottsdale (Arizona) has a Hertz attached to it that has at least one Cooper for rent. Also Long Beach MINI rents has a couple for loaners/rentals. There might be similar offerings in the Northeast.

Dominic, are you saying they no longer have a Cooper or they no longer have Hertz?

Yes...that would be Budget Rent A Car in Beverly Hills (Marina Del Rey too).

I rented a MCS from them while I was on the waiting list years back...best money I ever spent.

Although at $.50 a mile it would be expensive to drive to New England

I rented a zipcar in Boston....only automatics tho....mine was at the waterfront area but there are several locations in the boston-brookline area........it did cost a lot, about $ 70 for 24 hour, yeah and $300 I think membership fee which you get back in full after you decide you don't want to join zipcar for a year .....go to www.zipcar.com It was worth it for me beacause I was able to drive the car and we could get used to eachother for a whole day, rather than a few minutes at a test drive at the dealerthey may have better deals if you rent longer than one day, but zipcar is meant for people who don't own a car in the big city and want to rent a car for an hour or two to go grocery shopping or something....in which case it is not a bad deal at all to join and not have to deal with car insurance, maintenance etc....they are only in boston, NY and D.C.
