Sound diagnosing, any ideas?

2011 mcs, has had a slight tapping sound for a while it's not lifter tick. I only hear it when the car is at idle, the sound hasn't gotten worse it just anoying because I know it's there. The average person probably wouldn't notice it. I took it to a place that deals with mini and I was told that the sound was the friction wheel and they could make the tapping sound go away when the pulled tge tab on the wheel. I first took it in because I was afraid it was rod knock, which they said it wasn't. I just replaced the friction wheel and water pump and on first start i still hear the tapping sound. I know it'll be hard to tell from a video, but any input as to where to look next would be great. It's over a hr drive yo any mini specialist.

I can't get the link for the video to work. I'm going to try a different way and see if that works. Sorry

Post the vid to youtube and give a link here. Honestly, my 2011 MCS makes all kinds of ticking noises. I attribute them to direct injection. 75k on mine now, always been "ticky". I am a mechanic by trade, but used to "older" cars, so I know what you are talking about. A rod knock would typically occur at low speed, light/medium load conditions. It would be a "thick" knock, not a light tapping. Interested in seeing/hearing your vid, for sure.

mine makes a ticking/tapping sound at idle also, i think it's the throw out bearing in my manual trans.. every time i push the clutch in (at idle), the sound becomes very faint and as soon as i let go, noise comes back

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bznqeoUPio4 here is the link. The sound seems more prominent right up next to the harmonic balancer could that be a potential cause of the tapping sound?

Can you run the engine briefly with the accessory belt off, just to rule out belt-driven accessories?

Yeah I could give that a shot. I was wondering if It could be the tensioner making the noise.

Well I removed the belt today and the sound went away. You still hear the ticking sound but that's normal mini sound. If you watch the first vid and then this one you can tell it's gone. I'm thinking it's the tensioner. The car does run rough with the belt off, I didn't Think it would do that. Tell me what you guys Think wanna make sure that my brain isn't messing with me and the sound is definitely gone.
