Removing the "Cooper" badge (2010 MCS)

Hi all.
I was thinking about removing the "Cooper" badge from the rear and putting the "R56" badge in its place. https://www.waymotorworks.com/r56-ch...ter-badge.html

How difficult is it to remove that being that it's 7 years old? ...and how would one remove it? Is is double stick taped on or an actual bolt-on badge?

Thanks!

Very easy. Dental floss. Get it started at a corner and pull it back and forth like a saw. Any adhesive left behind can be removed with WD-40.

I took the "cooper" off with my fingernails on a hot summer day. A hair dryer would help soften the sticky, if you don't have a hot day.

Use a hair dryer or a heat gun to soften up the adhesive. If you don't it'll take you a lot longer to get it off.

I got my "R56" badge last night. Probably going to do this on the weekend. Anything I should do for "surface prep" before attaching besides cleaning the area well?

Nope. Just make dang sure you've got it EXACTLY where you want it before you pull off the tape. I used painter's tape around the area then taped down the badge and eyeballed it then used a straight edge marking the blue tape for reference then laid it on. It's all in the preparation.

Thanks! I plan on doing just that. If it's even the slightest bit crooked it will **** me off to no end.

When you get it done, as one of the old timer's herein was want to say: "Pictures, dammit, pictures. Without pictures, it didn't happen."

I know there are no locating pin holes behind the "Cooper S" badges... Are there any locating holes behind the "Mini" wings badge? I'd like to clean up the doors of my Clubman.

May want to spray a little paint friendly dish soap on the area to clean off any wax residuals for a solid adhesion.

Hot dog, I've still got the letters when I replaced that badge after installing boot stripes. I've got to think about that.

I removed the "wings"from my rear hatch and sold it. I moved my JCW badge to the former position of the "wings" which fit perfectly. Next I added a Chevy Aveo TURBO where the JCW badge formerly resided and on the front I removed the "wings" and replaced with a GEN I JCW (cloisonne) badge. It's the little things that count. See it at MOT2017.

Oh, it happened!!

Coop!

Just an "S" ...

They look lined up ...

Crap! Really?! The flipping "R" is a bit lower. Going to have to fix that!

Thanks for the help!
Oh, if you don't have floss, use a little more heat & "quadrupled" sewing thread.

I have a non-s and I'm considering just getting rid of the COOPER altogether. Wonder if it would have a 'tan-line' or something since I have a pepper white.

Only if the paint was really faded. After removal, it does leave a "dirty mark", but it cleaned off really easy. (See the first "dirty" & second "cleaned" pics.)

I do have that issue with the iron flakes in the paint. Going to have to get that IronX remover:
Amazon Amazon

Have fun!
