JCW body and roof color

body and roof color
Noob here, almost a MINI owner.
Found a 2013 JCW for sale close by, good price. Its red, with white racing stripes (the two close together on the nose), looks very nice.
Question - the roof is red also, while almost every MINI I've seen has a roof of a different color than the body. In fact, most of the ones with white stripes I've seen alternate stripe/body color on the roof - not this one, the base colors stay the same and the white goes straight across. Is this a factory option to keep the roof the same as the body?
Q2: Is it easy to change roof colors if I wanted, say, a checker flag or even a white roof with red stripes? I see lots of decals for sale - do people do it with decals or actual paint?

Yep, the owner painted my R58 JCW alpine white and the mirror caps because there was no white option. It happens more often on the higher priced JCWs. Again nice find.

There are strip kits that are only for the front and back. Often the ones that have roof stripes as part of the kit make them in contrasting colors. For example, if you car had a black roof and red body, the front and back stripes might be black, but the roof stripes would be red.

My Coupe came with dark grey body/Chile Red roof and contrasting stripes. But the black roof stripes faded so I had the dealer remove them. The red ones in the bonnet/boot are still fine. BTW I think the Coupe was the only Mini you could get where the roof could be a different color than black/white/body color.
