R50/53 eBay aluminum coolant reservoir
Just use the original cap from the old tank. You really don't want the cooling system having to adjust itself to a different cap. Cooling systems aren't very flexible in the creative sense. I replaced mine with one of those just this summer and moved the cap over no problems.
Anyone ever use the tanks that come with a non-vented cap. When I received this today I noticed the cap was not vented. Want to know if using this can cause problems down the line.Attachment 132850
My tank did not come with a cap. This is the cap that I got to use with the tank. I did not use the original cap and have had no problem with this one:

I ordered one too. I promptly returned it. If you use it and it does not have the proper pressure release cap when pressure builds and fluid expands something else will give. It will be your hose and you will be stranded. There are 2 versions of this tank. One is twice the price, does not come with the cap but has the correct threads to use the stock cap. and this one which is completely unsafe to use. I did think you can order an aluminum radiator neck that will take a standard radiator cap. and have the bad one cut off and the good one welded on. I bet it would be cheaper than the $120 version.

I've not had any problems since I installed it..
Yes, you ordered the $120 tank with the correct threads for the stock OEM cap. Good Tank, Good Cap.
We are discussing the tank with different threads and a solid cap. You can't thread the stock pressure relief cap on it. I tried. The $60 tank is a hose waiting to explode and a head waiting to warp. I would not use it as is.
However I do feel that you can buy the $60 tank and have a $15 filler neck welded on for a standard cap. Question what is the cost to weld aluminum. call your local radiator repair guy.

Seems like he was speaking generally about aluminum tanks and had a picture depicting one. I just posted to give an example of what he should get, that's all.
