Mounting an iPod
Hello!
Ok, i got my iPod and now i wanna use it in my mini, i know i can use the interface to put the ipod in the glovebox but i'd like to know if is there any mounting option to have it on the dashboard? Has any one mounted the iPod on the mini? does anyone have pics?
Thanks!

I was looking for ways to use my iPod in the car and decided to go for the (probably) cheapest & easiest option - just installing an aux input. If you get a Euro Shelf as well, it installs quite nicely in the back of the shelf and then the wires can easily be routed right down to your cup holder for storing the iPod while in use.
I have my 4G iPod mounted on the drivers side column .. its on a ProClip vehicle-specific mount, with "super-glued" modified Griffin cupholder mount .. Have the iPod attached to the Griffin car charger/aux adapter and the AUX input is in the glovebox. Sorry dont have any pics at this time..
Other options to consider include the Panavise mounts with a Portagrip universal Holder. I have this set-up too, sitting on my desk.... but I didn't install it because I am happy with the ProClip.
Do a search, there are a few very helpful threads on mounting PDAs and MP3 players..

I have a Belkin TuneDok mount for my iPod. Its good because its not permanent and easy to adjust. The only problem is that it doesn't fit that well into the MINI's cup holder, because the two under the console are so small. I got it cheap on ebay so I'm not going to complain about it. I don't have any pictures though, sorry :(
Lots and lots of info on this one from the past two years! Do a search in the 'Audio' forum as well as here, and you'll come up with oh-so-much! Also check out motoringfile.com for more up-to-date info. You'll probably have to do a search there as well.
I have the simplest of setups in my car: a 'classic' 10G ipod plugged in to the aux jack. When I had the dealer install the jack (right after they came out; had I known how easy they are to install yourself, I wouldn't have paid a dealer to do it), I had them put the wire down between the downtubes instead of in the glovebox (a stupid place to put it if you ask me...). I got a short mini-jack to mini-jack cable for about $3 at Radio Scrap, and I sit my ipod under the E-brake. It's got a neoprene jacket so it doesn't slide around much unless I'm really thrashing the car around!

I just got a 4G 20GB iPod and have mounted it next to my radio using this awesome custom bracket! I saw others on NAM had used it so I snatched one up:

This is the bracket you need. You also will need the Portagrip 2000 Model 702, which screws onto the mount. The 702 works perfect for an iPod. I called Cellular Mount and they helped me get the right mount.
I don't have a picture right now, but imagine the iPod floating just to the right of your radio, tilted towards the driver, in a padded holding grip. I am very happy with it. I think both mounts together cost ~$50.
As for signal, I am using the Griffin iTrip, which works very well. I have a 2002 MCS and don't want to mess with wiring right now, so the iTrip does the job.
PM me if you have questions.

When we had our AUX INPUT jack installed, the dealer gave us the option of mounting in the glove box or the panel behind the lower center console. We opted for the latter, as this puts the iPod right next to the cigar lighter. We have a iPod power cord that gets juice to the iPod, and a short (12") cord that runs from the iPod to the AUX jack. The iPod itself rests nicely in the driver side cup holder.
I've got the Panavise holder (it's a mobile phone holder) and had my dealer put my AUX input in the left pillar (similar to what's been said above); pics in my gallery here http://www.mini2.com/gallery/persona...ery_11982.html
IPod Mount
Check out everythingipod.com. They have multiple solutions for mounting your IPod. I chose the simple swivel kit - small adhesive back receiver that mounts on the dash and a small swivel for the back of the IPod. Its secure and makes removal quick.
Good Morning,
I have a 2004 Mini S that I have had since October 2012. I decided to install my iPod as I drive for work a great deal now. I chose to go with the AUX Cable kit. I purchased mine through Outmotoring who are awesome with quick shipping.
I have the standard radio unit without the CD changer installed.
I decided to install the AUX cable socket in the glovebox. I then routed the iPod AUX cable through the side of the glovebox, over to the right side downtube. I drilled small holes in the glovebox and the rear of the downtube. I made sure to smooth the plastic where drilled so as not to chafe the cables. I then placed a small piece of adhesive velcro to the downtube.
Taking the downtubes off, removing the radio and removing the glovebox was very simple. It took me in total about 1 hour, primarily because I took my time to ensure everything looked nice when completed.
I needed a phillips head screw driver, a T20 Torx driver, aux input cable, aux input kit, velcro, a 5/16 and 1/16 drill bit, a small flexible craft file to smooth the drill holes and some electrical tape.
I have a few pictures of the finished product.
