MCS. Do your Revs go down when you put clutch in?

This may be a strange question to those who dont have this problem:

You need a stick shift for this to happen obviously.

While moving, when you put your clutch in, to change gear (travelling at any speed), how long does your RPM stay at its current spot before coming down.

I have a 2004 MCS, and it takes probably a full second before the revs actually start coming down after I put the clutch in. I actually like this, but it occured to me that maybe not all S's are like this, and it might not be normal.

Can anyone else confirm? Also, is there anyone that has this "problem" AND the new v.XX software?

I have an 03 MCS and it does this as well. As far as I know, it's normal.

I think it's just the heavy flywheel taking its dandy time to spin down.

The ECU might be trying to burn the last drop of fuel too for emissions
control.

Most modern cars have had this type of throttle management to assist in shifting gears cleanly and to help with emmisions due to sudden throttle cut-off.

It is normal.

Get the MTH ECU upgrade and this is much less noticeable. Oh, and you get a lot more power to boot.

No, I love it actually, and dont want to lose it if I get a software upgrade from the dealer.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Yep, it is normal and I actually like it. Makes the car very easy to drive in traffic and low speed situations.

My 02 does it too. I'd say it's normal, heavy flywheel probably main culprit.

So, if I'm the dissenting opinion in here and I think it totally sucks, what are my best options for improving the situation?

How much of this lag is due to physics (a heavy flywheel) and how much of it is because of ECU intervention?

Probably 30% flywheel and 70% software.

Why the need to change it?
