 Ooooo - I really like it! If that were a cat instead of a dog - it would look like some of the retro "Breakfast at Tiffanys" items I've seen recently. Thanks for posting this...

Chow!

Well, Monkey_Boy's got his little purple dinner jacket on, obscuring his tatts! LOL!

**** did this a couple of years ago. I had some very nice personal correspondance with him regarding the piece. MINI commissioned him directly to do it and it's their property. I was hoping to get a print but at the time it wasn't possible. MINI had provided him with a car when he went to a show ...(Italy maybe?, can't remember) and he said they were great to deal with. It would be great if MINI made prints to sell.

Good eye. Yeah, why is her monkey mad?

Perhaps the monkey is symbolic of a jealous boyfriend or spouse who is made cross by the almost viscious, or excessively forward advances made toward his lover by the "snarling dog".

- or -

Perhaps the monkey represents a jealous spouse, tied down, not necessarily jealous of the dog's attempts to woo his keeper, but jealous of the dog's confidence and freedom as symbolized by his demeanor and presence of the MINI itself. The dog is able to embrace the world, while the monkey is only bound to a world of limitations. In this regard, you can almost divide this picture into two halves using the road - the top half represents limitation, convention, and regret, while the bottom half is indicative of aggression, zeal, and freespiritedness.

- or -

The monkey simply might not be willing to accept things that defy convention, things that are new, or change in general. The artist depicts the monkey as an intimidated fool, or a baffoon, who is bound to his world, content with his life not truly lived. The spiteful monkey might represent everyone in the world who is unable to think for themselves.

These are just suggestions. I'm just an IT geek, so I might very well have no idea what I'm talking about.

The monkey is mad because because she "spanked" him! LOL!

Yes, yes... vmote, I think you've got it! It's the very essence of MINI ownership. That poor monkey... he's doomed to a life on a leash!!!

Godspeed.
