Goodbye NAM & my Mini Countryman S

All,

Beginning 11/23/16 I will be getting rid of my '11 Mini Countryman S. Since I've had it (a little less than 2 years) I've had it in the shop 7+ times to get it fixed and they have yet to fix my complaint about the transmission; they say nothings wrong with it... My 'local' dealership is 45+ minutes away from me and it has been a pain to bring it to the dealer... I will not be getting another Mini, for the moment, and will no longer post on the site. It's been a pleasure to talk with you guys and you will be missed.

Signing off
- Josh Dye

6 speed manual. They had a softer material for the clutch plate in the 2011-2012 (early) and they acknowledged the issue, but never would do anything proactive to fix it...to be exact with the issues I had:

-clutch would slip; it smelled
-bad fuel pump
-bad water pump
-bad frm module
-bad rev counter
-bad thermostat

Yes, early ones had issues and they updated the part number for the clutch. 21208606067 https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/21208606067/

Thanks @ECSTuning. I'll miss my ol' gal, but I look forward to my new Cadillac ATS 2.0T AWD (272HP - 260 LBS TQ). :D

Unfortunately that replacement part is also slippy, vague, and smelly. Maybe ok for flatlands, but the implementation of that clutch in the R60 is far inferior to the R56. I've owned both S cars, and the R60's clutch is just bad. I won't be keeping it much past the extended maintenance warranty. I love it, but the transmission is shamefully bad compared to the r56, the Saab I owned before that, the crappy Pontiac before that, and the Honda Civic before that. All manuals, none of them with weaker clutches.

I hate the clutch in my R60. Hoping an aftermarket one will have more clamping force! But the current one was just replaced at 39k under warranty when the transmission bit the dust and only have 10k on it now.

Sorry you had so many problems. Hope the Caddy treats you well.

Interesting. Other than being lighter than I'd like, my clutch seems fine. Crossing fingers...

Thanks all! Just a little AD, but I'm selling my John Cooper Works (Alcantara & Carbon Fiber) shifter in the marketplace at a really good deal.
