Dead Bluetooth in 2007 Cooper S (R56)

Greetings All!

The factory hands-free Bluetooth on my 2007 Cooper S appears to have died. After 7 years of good operation (it's been dead for about a year) with three phones (Motorola RAZR, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy 5s), it just up and quit. Best I can tell, the Bluetooth in the MINI is not transmitting. When I set the car Bluetooth to scan, and set scan on the phone, neither the car nor the phone see each other.

Tonight I tried with two different phones (the Atrix and 5s) and neither detected the MINI. Each phone detected the other, and I managed to pair the two phones together. The Atrix still had pairing entry for the MINI, but even selecting that on the phone did not establish a connection. (I had deleted both the Atrix and G5s from the MINI trying to solve this problem, and had deleted the MINI entry from the G5s)

My conclusion is that there is something amiss with the Bluetooth module in the car. So two questions:

1) Has anyone experienced a similar problem and found a solution?

2) Does anyone know where the Bluetooth module is located in a R56? Is it in the passenger side wall of the boot? (The driver's side has the audio amplifier and I believe the SirusXM receiver is under the passenger seat.) Links to photos would be particularly useful.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Don

My '09 has it mounted under the driver's seat. (it's also MOST Fiber)
The BT module also controls the Aux and USB.. either of those still working?
I should add that my system has the integrated head/amp but uses fiber to communicate with the BT module. I don't have Sat so there's nothing under my passenger seat except cables.
my part # is
84109207360 which was used through 9/09.. after that they upgraded for the 2007 twice.
84109224674
3/10 (short lived unit)
84109229740
latest model listed for the 2007

Best

Just wanted to update this old thread in case anyone searches and is having the same issue. My 2007 R56 with factory nav/lifetime Sirius recently had this same issue. The bluetooth stopped working and all the voice commands (change radio station, input, navigation programming etc) also stopped working. I erased the phone from the car and "forgot" it in my iPhone. Tried to re-pair with the car and discovered the car wasn't transmitting any kind of bluetooth signal for pairing. It never showed up in the list of available devices on the phone.

I ended up having to replace the ULF SBX module under the drivers seat. I had a dealer do it as the module had to be coded to the car and I didn't have anything to do that. That solved the issues but was expensive.
