In need of a Mini Mechanic

I recently had a "Check Engine" light come on. So, I connected my OBD scanner and it was telling me that the #3 Spark Plug was misfiring. I thought nothing of it bought the Proper Spark Plugs (coppers) and New Coils (changed them all) and I even threw in a nifty oil change.

Success, so I thought. I drove 5 blocks from my place and I started getting a Clicking noise. I thought maybe the coils was loose or the spark plug died. I don't have those tools so I took it to my trusted mechanic who did the bigger jobs for my Jeep. He said it might be a bad timing chain that is not letting the chamber charge. At this point I had all kinds of confusion on my face. He said he is not too familiar with Mini's or BMW's but he would look into it.

So, as much as I love my mechanic, I need a Queens based Mini Mechanic that fellow Miniacs have used and trust.

My search shows Bimmer Motors Group, so any feedback would be greatly apperciated

Interested to know if it was the belt or the tensioner. How many miles on your Mini?

It was both. The belt look like it's been chewed on and the tensioner was very flaccid.

I'll post a video later tonight.

The guy from Bimmer Motors was super helpful and I'm going to use him going forward

Interesting. Any idea on how many miles were on the belt? That is the friction wheel not the tensioner. Thanks for sharing!

Your belt convinced me to change mine every 30,000 miles. Probably should do the friction wheel too. Thanks again.

I'd say that's a good rule. I was thinking check it every other oil change (that's every 18k miles for me)
