Auto Start on 2012 Countryman

Hey all,

New I'm new to NAM.com and a proud && lucky owner of a 2012 Cooper S Countryman ALL 4.

I've been watching a lot of youtube videos on mods, cpu tricks, etc. One video,
this guy presses the 'lock' key 3 times and auto starts his MC.

Is this possible for a 2012?

Must be a remote starter programmed with his FOB but definitely not OEM. Here's another video of someone else demoing it.

http://www.idatalink.com/product/product/product_id/165
or
http://www.flashlogic.com/product/pr...product_id/169
(both identical products sold by 2 different brands)

It's an aftermarket piggy back device which connects to the R56/R60 system and gets triggered by a triple click on the lock button on the key fob. I have contemplated installing this for my wife's CM but she says the cost of the device is too much and doesn't want me to spend that kind of money.

I forgot to mention that this only works on automatic vehicles, it will NOT work with manual transmissions.

For starter, iDataStart on amazon.com starts at $499.95 https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...&condition=new
Second, FlashLogic on amazon.com starts at $474.00 https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...&condition=new

It's all about which one you want to buy. Do read the install process and see if it's something you'd be willing to do yourself or find a professional.

You can do remote start on a manual. You have to bi-pass the micro switch at the clutch and always make sure NOT TO LEAVE IT IN GEAR!!!

Here is an option too, which I prefer. Access from your smart phone is a great option.

Yup... did the bypass on my old Honda Civic and had a little fun "testing" the in gear remote start result. Sat in the driver seat and locked the vehicle to mimic vacating. Remote started the car while leaving the gear in first & felt the starter actually drive the car while trying to start it. Was fun. lol. Of course I ensured I was in a safe area when I did the test...

Does anyone have an aftermarket Alarm or Remote start currently on their Countryman? Id be curious to hear your thoughts and which brand you went with. I wish my car at least made a chirp when I lock and unlock the doors....
