Need advice on NM module with JCW

Hello all.

Just did a custom stage 1 tune on my JCW (AT) with JCW Pro exhaust and it didn't go as planned. There will be micro surges and boost cut throughout the rev range and sometimes I don't even feel the boost at all. This still happened despite several remaps done by the tuner. He said the gearbox TCU is the culprit here, cutting the power.

I'm now back with stock and loving it so far for its consistency but of course it's way down on power. I'm thinking of trying the NM module instead.

Anyone on the NM power module on their JCW (AT) please shout out? I want to make sure it performs flawlessly before I sink more money into a black hole

Is it progressive and linear like stock curve or it's more like an on-off switch?

Yes, I do and it is a very competent module with high and low settings. On the low setting with fuels below 100 octane it produces 30 additional horsepower and corresponding increase in torque. It takes it a short period to adjust and program to fit your car. Generally, it is around $400 for the module, takes 30 minutes or less to install. Cheap horsepower and it can be removed in less than 15 minutes once you understand the installation and removal procedures. Rock solid so far with 10,000 miles on the car since installation. I do plan to purchase some 100 octane race fuel and then have it dynoed again to see what the gains are. I am very pleased with it and the JCW PRO exhaust, the exhaust adds another 10 HP and additional torque and a really good exhaust note with abundant bangs, pops, gurgles, etc., particularly when you decelerate and gear down. It really is all I want from the car. I did change out the OEM runflats for some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires and that great enhanced high speed handling during cornering and hard braking. It is a linear power curve with the module.

Thanks for your extensive reply mate!

Also, does it feel as boosty as stock or it's almost NA like when WOT?

Wasted money on the tune so I'm really trying to make sure this time I get it right.

The power seems to come out quite linear from a stop light without using launch control. Very powerful feeling if passing either around town or on the highway at speeds. I run mine on the low setting. seemed a bit inconsistent on power in hi setting if not using 100 octane gas. Both me an KyDan dynoed about the same so either way, your JCW will be over 260 hp to the wheels, (290-295 at the crank). Don't know what tune you had to compare it too.
