Not sure if people were aware of the Xenon headlamp shortage... so I'll explain:

Almost all MINIs produced from Mid May on did not have Xenon lights because BMW ran out of them. Early on BMW did not think they would get more until July or so.

So... I originally had a June 28 production date for my car which included the Xenon lights. They had to move my production date to July 5 because that was going to be the earliest date they would get them in. Well, here's the GOOD news! BMW was able to boost Xenon light production earlier than expected.

They now tell me my production date is back to June 28 and all MINIs from the 28th on will have them!

Yeah, thats really well, BAD because my production date is June 14th... However, your story is a little off... Let me explain. Not all Minis produced in May came without Xenons... The reason being that when the factory originally started taking orders some time in March, they started allocating the Xenons they had to existing orders. This meant that for the most part, people with build dates any time in June always had a 50/50 chance of still being sold a car with Xenons if they had ordered them! It was the rest of the crowd who would have to deal with a shortage. This I was told by the Mini factory Rep. when he came to my dealer on his once-a-month trip. I am glad to see that they are back in stock for people before sepember though!
