Auto Transmission Service

Has anyone changed the fluid and filter on the CMS ? Forum search comes up empty. My wife's ride has 75K miles and was thinking of doing it as a preventative. Dealer says "lifetime" fluid, I'm not buying it, no such thing as a fluids break down with heat over time. Appreciate any thoughts on the topic.

I'm interested too as the dealer told me the same thing. Has transmission fluid come so far that its breakdown is non-existent or what?!?

I hope someone has some insight to this.

Pelican article is close but its not for a CM

I believe the fill process is different, especially location of the fill hole.

my buddy owns a transmission overhaul shop

i have access to the aisin manuals

there is a tool for filling the transmission that screws into the drain plug hole ... it has a nipple on it to put a hose on ... you can fill the transmission in just a couple minutes using the tool ... the fluid will not come out when you remove the tool, the standpipe keeps it in

the aisin manual says to measure the quantity of fluid drained and to add that much back then run the car through the gears as described below then reinstall the tool and top off the transmission

i have done this twice to my sisters all4, i have a manual in my all4, it goes much faster than using the top fill hole

a trick i have learned is to drain the oil hot, then let the car sit untouched over night ... i have gotten an extra 1-2 quarts to drain overnight

Hi,
Thanks for that great tip! Where would one find such a tool?
Thanks

I used this tool and it worked great.
OEMTOOLS
OEMTOOLS 24441 Manual ATF Filler System ($86.99 in Amazon)

Quickest tranny fluid change I've ever done.
I use Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic ATF on all my vehicles and it not only works great, but it also costs a fraction of the price of the "only use this fluid brand or your car will explode" fluids.
