Door handle courtesy light

The driver's side courtesy light in the door handle (normally lights when unlocking the door) no longer lights on my 2015 F56.

The car just got back from a trip to a body shop after someone t-boned my parked car, denting the driver's side door and front quarter panel. After the dent repair & repainting, the light no longer lights. The puddle light still works on the driver's side, and both the puddle and door handle lights work on the passenger side - so I don't think the failure is due to some obscure customization setting.

My level of concern over this is not great - I don't want to be without the car for more than a day.

How hard a fix is this likely to be as a DIY project?

No way I would be yanking door panels off when it was obviously caused by the body shop. They have the correct tools for one thing. Then when you get it off, what if you find that you need to replace a part/parts? You want to spring for that and supply the labor for something that's not your fault to begin with? That's just me though. It's probably just a broken/damaged wire, but if it's grounded out or shorted, it could possibly cause more trouble down the road.

If the F-series door is like every other car door I've messed with, you can pop it off the metal door body and pop it back in. Most likely the body shop failed to plug in the light's wire when they put everything else back.

You can buy a set of trim tools (glorified mini pry bars made of very strong plastic) for maybe $10 or so. They make it easier to get the door card loose, and save you using a screwdriver or other improvised lever that risks scratching paint.

Turned out to be a quick fix

Removed door panel, disconnected and reconnected wiring, and back in business

Thanks
