You should get a special sticker for purchasing during MTTS

Nice ride! I think I saw your car there in Charlotte. I got to hit just shy of 130 mph on the banks there in Charlotte. Was at 110 mph going into turn 1 and backed off after turn two because I thought we had to pull off but saw that we didn't so I hammered it again and was over 120 mph into turn 3! How far did you go in MTTS? We went from Atlanta to St Ignace. Just ran out of vacation days to make it all the way to Palm Springs, maybe next time.

This is NOT approved Mini Factory Scheduled Maintenance but what you believe should be done.

I don't see any reference to OEM recommendations or any chart published by Mini for validation.

Anybody can replace oil, filters brakes any time they want but what Mini says is what I need to know for my car to maintain the standards it is supposed to meet.

You should document your sources and make references from where they are coming from.

All the info is available from BMW, released and published through softwares as Alldata, Identifix and MOTOR among the most reliable sources.

Buy these softwares and make it real about what Mini maintenance is as recommended with a few charts.

We all can figure out what make sense.

It would be nice to see this information in the Owner's Manual re: Service Intervals, but unfortunately it does not exist! I asked my MINI service manager for this information once, when I told him I would be changing my own oil, and he didn't give me any information. I guess I'll have to push him for it, but it really, REALLY should be in the Owner's Manual...what is the big secret???? Owner's are suppose to crawl to the dealer for every little thing? I truly believe that's the grand plan! Whether an owner follows recommended service intervals or not doesn't mean it shouldn't at least be AVAILABLE!

As the article states, "Always refer to YOUR Mini Owners Manual for factory recommendations for YOUR Mini." Gen 1 & Gen 2 information is taken from the Bentley Manuals & MINI Owners Manuals. Gen 3 recommendations from the MINI Owners Manual and documentation provided by MINI. With over 40 years of working on the brand for the street and track, we find them a great resource.

You're right there! That's why we make the factory information available for all to see for all three generations for free

But the Owner's Manual is "0" help! My MINI dealer rep tells me that there are no service intervals listed in the manual because it's condition based. Based on the one year/10k miles service interval service techs review what needs replacing based on its condition.

So, that means an owner is at the mercy of the dealer to plug the computer in and tell the owner what service intervals are, based on driving style?

It's just ridiculous that MINI doesn't at the very least offer some "guidelines" for owners so those of us not near a dealer (and that change our own oil & filter) can know when it would be appropriate to take the car in.....and that's as little as possible as far as I'm concerned!

As someone else has said recently, "It's a rigged system!"

I completely agree on all you said. This info is available because the dealer knows what need to be done depending of normal or severe driving conditions and what are the OEM recommendations for service to come.

I believe Mini Mania and all the other vendors here have access to this OEM information but don't want to disclose for any reason they may have.

Most of us are just asking to see OEM maintenance charts.

I know from credible sources in the automotive industry that the complete OEM info is disclosed after a few model years.

To rely on Bentley for somebody buying a used Mini is speculation to figure what the car may need over time depending of their driving habits.

I believe private vendors are chomping at the bit to get their hands on such information! I blame MINI exclusively for this boondoggle! Owners should band together and demand that service interval guideline information be released! We all know how we drive & we don't need a computer to tell us when it's recommended to service the car!

That is a great looking fun car! Hard to tell from looking at the pics but how would it be in the back if you rolled the car. Is there a roll bar back there?

Just read this for anyone interested in the rollover safety of this car.

"In any convertible the biggest problem is rolling it onto its occasionally absent roof. Instead, car manufacturers have to engineer rollover protection, usually in the form of hoops and bars. For its new Convertible, Mini redesigned the rollover protection to fire out from just behind the front seats, which offers the same protection as a hoop without the visual lines getting ruined."

Cool idea.

We got stuck behind slower ones on the track and didn't know we were allowed to pass. I nailed it in Richmond but only got to 90 since it was a short run.
We only did Charlotte and Richmond this time around.

No roll bar and I will try my very best not to find out how the roll protection system works
