retrofit dual gauge and aftermarket nav

anyone retrofit dual gauge and something else for nav? The chrono is basically pointless I've seen where people use factory nav but display android on it, maybe a touchscreen overlay with android?

any adapters out there to fit something in place of factory nav?

I retrofitted factory nav with twin clocks on the column.
Then took out the factory 6.5" and squeeeeezed in a 7" lilliput LCD with touchscreen driven via VGA & USB from a PC in the trunk mounted where the CD changer goes.
It was just possible but I had to cut up the front round trim & the carrier.
The CarPC setup was too flaky for me so now I am back to factory Nav with a Mk4 DVD uiti in the glove-box & an IPhone on a holder on the IP & a cheap android phone on top of the IP running Torque.
Question is what do you want instead of the factory Nav?
Anything can be done given enough time & money, which do you not have?

Cheers

Chris

Look at this approach (factory Nav screen replaced with Galaxy Note):

However, if you don't already have factory Nav, that retrofit alone is not simple.

Not fully getting this part... what is IP and how is everything on your system tied together? You have torque displayed on the NAV screen, or the android, iphone, and NAV are all seperate?

IP - Instrument panel

all separate now.....
Trying an android TV stick via BMW TV tuner to OE Nav Display but need more time.
IPhone is just for telephone via OE bluetooth (also retrofitted by me).

Cheers

this is exactly what I wanted to do

I found the nav housings pretty cheap that gives me back fuel gauge, and chrono gauges puts the check engine/error lights on the wheel

code car for nav/chrono I guess then leaving the stock radio in place and just using the empty nav spot for the tablet

In general, there are issues with getting used gauges to work because they have been locked by VIN. However there seem to be ways to clear it with a memory writer. See this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-question.html
