No spark at plugs.

I just put in a pertronix unit in my 25 dist it is a 142A unit. The spark at plugs is non existent . Took out plug wires from cap an redid them. Still no spark . Neg ground system. Would going back to points be a better solution?

Did the car run before you changed to Pertronix? Did you upgrade the coil when the switch was made? I'd keep working to get the Pertronix going. I had one put into my 45D4 and never looked back- fires almost instantly...

I will NEVER go back to points, the change in running and starting was HUGE. . I know dozens of LBC owners and the only bad thing anyone says about the Pertronix is it TOO can fail, so they recommend carrying a spare (just as you would points) just in case . . .

I had trouble when I put in my Pert' .....

I had an "expert" who'd told me what dizzy I had and ordered the Pert' accordingly. I'll save the details but after MUCH grief I finally pulled the dizzy and found the model stamp and lo!!! The "expert" was wrong and I'd ordered the wrong Pert'. It fit but was not the right one.

Pert' folks were VERY accommodating and let me exchange. After putting the CORRECT one in .... BAM ... good to go. I replaced all wires, coil, plugs, cap and rotor at the same time . . .

***********************

You put the magnet on the shaft and remembered to put the rotor back on?

******

If all this is good ... let's backup. Have you tested to verify you get a jolt out of the coil?

**************************

and we did just have this .... I am trying to time the engine after putting a new clutch in and working on the dist. Did you get everything running THEN go back for the Pert'?
