This photo is from a local craigslist ad. Are those roof bars really compatable with 1st Gen. MINIs? I asked the seller about it and he said that he bought the car with the bars already on it and never took them off.

 

Theyre on a 1st gen base model so I would assume so. Not entirely sure what you're asking.

 

On all 02-06 cars the roof has to be opened up to use oem bars. I can see these that well to make a decision

 

Little nubs are glued to the roof if they are typical...if the attachment is similar to the factory optional one...
So if you remove the racks, some tiny, barely noticeable thinggy are left....can't tell the brand from the picture.

 

To me, these do not appear to be the OE roof bars.

 

They look oem for gen 2 cars

 

They do look just like the roof bars sold for 2nd gen. If it's OEM it should have a MINI logo. Is the seller the original owner? An earlier owner might have retrofitted 2nd gen bars.

 

The 1st Gen roof rack doesn't attach to the gutters.

Maybe my initial question wasn't clear........I know that this is a 1st gen MINI, I know that these are 2nd gen bars. I talked to the guy selling the car and asked him about it and he told me that he bought the car with the bars already on it, so he really didn't have any info about it. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they're a direct fit on a 1st gen.
