Mixing coolant

What happens when you mix green coolant with the blue mini coolant?

Officially nothing....but YPU end up with an unknown mix that does not meet any specific specification.
Nothing will likely blow up...
But the cooling system is the most overlooked iten on MINI's...
Gen1 cars with a cast iron block need a flush/drain and fill every 4 years....go too long, the rust collects (usually) in the heater core...so you losse your heat, then the headgasket tends to go....

It's currently 50% blue and 50% green. I hear that the mix will make a jelly like substance that will plug everything up. If this is true I'm assuming I have to flush it out asap?

The coolant is supposed to be mixed 50/50 with distilled water.

Naww...
That is orange and green makes jello......orange, aka Dex cool, is a ORGANIC ACID ...blue, and most every coolant made now (anything claiming to be long life ) is a hybrid OA, AND IS BACKWARD compatible, but that having been said, the mix does not meet any know spec.

Am I right in thinking that this idea sounds disturbingly like mixing bourbon and scotch? You can do it but why defile two independently perfect fluids.

It wasn't done on purpose. I went to two different mechanics for coolant problems and they each but in different color coolant

Ah ha, so, they changed bartenders and the second one wasn't paying attention. Got it.

You aren't in any immediate danger but a flush and fill with the approved blue stuff would be good to do
