'13 Base Cooper Exhaust Heat Shield Rattle

Anyone have this? Somewhat intermittent, but have a relatively stiff suspension and when I drive over potholes/bumpy roads, pretty good rattle - anyone have this? and any solutions?

You sure it's a heat shield? That sound usually presents at certain rpm/engine vibration and not necessarily going over bumps. Perhaps it's the common hatch rattle?

going over bumps, the rear heat shield at the very end - not sure what the hatch rattle is, I got this one to repeat by banging on the rear bumper downwards. Could be related to not having the spare? IDK

Hatch rattle: a lot of people (myself included) have a rattle in the rear going over bumps from the hatch latch not grabbing tight. Take a piece of duct tape and wrap the "hook" at the bottom of the hatch. The part that goes into the latch to keep the hatch closed. See if that noise doesn't go away.

Yes that's what I used. There are other threads on this forum about hatch rattle. Pretty common.

Did you check the bolts and if the heat shield is flush.

just wanted to confirm - the tapping metallic noise was the hatch rattle, yes - exhaust heat shield noise, there when I bang it but pretty minimal as far as the noise inside the cabin
