Cruise control malfunction CEL

Did search, couple posts came up but with no follow up on fixes.
First start up after timing chain death rattle repair, fired right up nice and quiet feeling relieved.
Let it idle for a few minutes and CEL popped up engine half yellow and cruise control malfunction, engine will not rev up.
Also changed the turbo oil feed/drain lines and new plugs during repairs.
Any ideas on what's causing the CEL ?

First you'll need to plug into your OBDII and pull what code is present in the system. This individual chimed in at the end of thread HERE saying a new throttle body fixed their issue, but if you have a code present it will help indicate what may be going on with your MINI so you aren't just throwing parts at it.

Will do, don't really want to drive the car at reduced power to Autozone, so I will just buy a code reader.
Thanks for the response

If you want a very good BMW/MINI specific tool you can look into AutoEnginuity HERE. There is a lot of information about the tool there and the full kit can be purchased HERE. That being said, I have heard that sometimes if no code is found that only a qualified MINI independent shop or dealer will be able to pull the code for the reduced engine power. Good luck and let me know what you find out.

Get the schwaben one , its MINI focused and finds more codes hidden then those general readers. Had actron units in the past , they don't read that much and that's what autozone uses.

Then let me know what you found.

Not sure if it specifically gave a O instead of a zero, but P0300 is multiple cylinder misfire. A more specific code reader will tell you if it's specific to fuel injection or exhaust emissions. P0301 is cylinder 1 misfire or same as above. Found some info on P1638 HERE. Check your throttle body as it might be gummed up and causing issues. The others don't seem to be MINI specific codes, which a lot of basic code readers will do this. There is definitely something going on with your MINI so you'll want to get a reader that can read the codes or bring it to an indy shop. Let me know what you decide to do and what you find after checking your throttle body.

Edit: Finding threads with a few of those above, but with no real resolution:

Will start with a throttle body cleaning and inspection.
Some of the codes we probably present before the service I just preformed.
Thanks for the help guys

You are welcome. Thats allot of codes. Searching through dead end threads will not help. You are going I would get the tool to diagnosis even more. Like checking stored codes, clear all codes and see what come up again. Some might just be old stored fault codes.

I would start with the throttle body electrical connection, then pull the throttle; body and clean the butterfly valve. Also the intake manifold will have a oil/moisture residue that can cause the throttle; to stick and freeze, are you in a cold climate ?

Putting closure to this thread and for future searches, cleaning the throttle body did the trick, car is running well.
Thanks for the help from you both

Great! You're welcome and glad that fixed your issue and thank you for posting up your resolution. A lot of threads go unresolved so I'm sure this will help someone else in the future.
